An effort to save the swinging bridge in Brumley from a fate unknown continues Tonight.
The “Save the Historical Brumley Swinging Bridge” group gets together to continue trying to come up with ideas to raise funding to go toward the overall price-tag of some $350-thousand.
One of the ways to do that, according to group member Marlena Hatmaker, is to pursue grant funding.
However, Hatmaker says that presents a catch-22 situation because grant applications require numerical data which, in the case of the swinging bridge, is not available…“You can’t count cars across the bridge, because the bridge is closed. So that’s a struggle as well….but it’s a very high traffic area for Tourists, and I don’t think that’s being shown.”
Tonight’s meeting of the “save the bridge” group begins at 6:00 at 124 Swinging Bridge Road in Brumley.
The meeting is open to the public.
