Enhanced protection in the form of more reliable communications between front-line officers and other response agencies is on its way to the Sunrise Beach Fire District.
That’s according to Chief Joseph Laplant who says funding for the purchase of six new portable radios and vehicle repeaters is being made possible by an ARPA grant and available monies in the district’s General Revenue Fund.
“Each of the radios are about $6,800. And the grant required us also to have an in car repeater also in order to receive the grant. So our total is going to be about $43,000 for the entire order, and the grant will cover $20,000 of that. So, for lack of a better term, we’re going to be getting the radios for half price, which is a huge win for the district.
The new radios should be delivered to the Sunrise Beach Fire District within the next two or three months.
