The National Transportation Safety Board is being called upon to investigate details of a small airplane crash early Sunday morning in Camden County.
Sergeant Scott Hines says the sequence of events apparently started in Lawrence County, in southwest Missouri, with several agencies getting involved before the airplane went down.
“You know, we’ve got information coming from different sources. You know, we’re trying to ascertain, you know, what does that have to do with us? But the bottom line is, at some point or other, the plane was circling our area and actually crash landed nearby the Camdenton Airport down the South side of town.”
Deputies were able to locate the pilot who, according to unconfirmed reports, may have been drunk and walked away from the crash with only minor injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that the man was apparently trying to land the plane when he hit a tree. The highway patrol was also involved with the incident being referred to the NTSB.
