A traffic enforcement saturation patrol over the weekend in northwest Camden County nets only four violators but is being called an overall success.

Sergeant Scott Hines says one of the main keys of such an effort in the more rural areas of the county is visibility.

By having more vehicles in the area, and we can do this really at any given area. Sometimes we do it down the Stalin area, sometimes out towards Max Creek, some of the less populated areas of the county that see us out there doing those things. It shows people that we are around. And I think that that can also serve as a deterrent to the kind of behavior, especially, you know, hot rod and drag racing and stuff like that.”

Funding for the saturation effort was to have come out of a grant and…the bottom line….more than 20 stops resulted in 18 verbal warnings and seven citations.

There were also four arrests for driving suspended, not having a valid operator’s license, minor in possession and one DWI.

The highway patrol assisted Camden County in conducting the effort.
