Missouri public schools getting a boost for safety in the form of some new technology.
The state of Missouri is offering a mobile panic button.
It’s basically a mobile emergency alerting app that would allow someone to alert school staff and first responders in the event of a dangerous situation.
Missouri Department of Public Safety spokesman; Mike O’Connell says that the app will work on a cell phone, or a computer.
It would be used in the event of situations such as a fire, natural disaster, on campus intruder, or an active shooter.
The app would relay information on location and school campus maps to first responders as well as other campus personal withing seconds.
O’Connell wants schools signed up for the app by June 30th.
