We head into the final weekend before baseball’s all-star game.
The Royals will be in Boston to take on the Red Sox, fresh off their double-header sweep of the Cardinals.
The Royals will send their young lefty, Cole Reagans, to the mound tonight.
He is 5-6, but a sparkling ERA of 3.28 on the season.
The Royals are back to eight games above the .500 mark.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are home, starting a critical series with the Chicago Cubs.
A four-gamer, including a double-header on Saturday.
Sonny Gray will get the ball tonight.
They face a Cubs team that has suddenly won four in a row.
They may be in last place in the National League Central Division, but they are coming off a sweep of the Orioles in Baltimore.
And mention all-star game next week.
The home-run derby will culminate on Monday, and the Royals will certainly have some representation.
Bobby Witt Jr., a first-time all-star, will also be a first-time home-run derby participant.
Also in the event, Teoscar Hernandez, Marcelo Zuna, Jose Ramirez, Gunnar Henderson, Adolis Garcia, Alec Boehm, and Pete Alonso.
That’s on Monday, followed by the all-star game on Tuesday.
