Did he or didn’t he…?
That’s the question in Iberia with City Attorney Robert Sweeney, according to a report on KRCG-TV, saying a social media post by Mayor Holley Dake announcing his resignation effective on Sunday, is not official and needs to be submitted to the city.
The continuing controversy in the city of just over 700 in Miller County seemed to hit a boiling point over the weekend with Dake citing what he called, a rebellion by individuals with personal agendas and mindsets before posting a resignation.
While city hall refused comment on the issue, Dake did reply late Monday afternoon to KRMS saying his resignation was not official.
One of the issues leading up to the weekend was whether a patio was part of a public sidewalk or not.
There is a court hearing on the sidewalk issue set for the 23rd of this month.
KRMS News will continue to follow the story and update when available.
