One person is dead and three others injured after what started as a two-vehicle accident with one of the injured then being hit while standing in the roadway by a passing vehicle.
The highway patrol says it happened shortly after 8:30 Wednesday night when 31-year-old Kyle Washia, of Stover, pulled from a private drive along highway-5 near Route-J into the path of 36-year-old Brice Wibberg, of Barnett.
Washia and his passenger, 29-year-old Nicole Miller of Camdenton, were seriously hurt.
Wibberg and his passenger, a nine-year-old boy also from Barnett, both suffered moderate injuries.
The highway patrol then says, just a minute later, Washia was standing by his vehicle in the roadway and was struck by another passing vehicle driven by 49-year-old Amherst Noel, of Gravois Mills.
Washia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The others injured in the initial accident were taken to Lake Regional and University Hospitals.
