It’s all about the kids and community…sentiment behind an effort to restore the Macks Creek City Park after the Camden County Commission recently signed a lease to put control of the small park back into the hands of area residents.
A park board has, since, been chosen which is now in the planning stages to improve and re-open the park under local control.
“We’re planning some events. We’re planning to put a new sign up with hours of when it’s open and rules of the park.”
Longtime resident and Macks Creek businessman Jerry Palmer also says, while the park had been a contentious issue in the past, it’s time for the community to move forward.
“Right now, what we all out here want to do. We want to lay down everything that happened in the past with the city and everything and county government. We want to think of our kids.”
The Macks Creek park board is also looking for volunteers to help maintain the park and will be conducting monthly meetings in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall…the next meeting will be held in late March.
