MoDOT continues their efforts to keep the roads clear, despite the low temps that are working against them…
“Our chemicals become ineffective after a certain temperature. It’s about 17° without any sun, the salt doesn’t work, and with -7 negative five degree temperatures overnight chemicals are not going to work.”
Central District Area Engineer Danny Roeger says the effort will focus on continuous operation routes which are traveled the most…
“That includes the ones that are the most traveled, the ones that have the most vehicles on it….and of course those regionally significant routes, if there is a hospital or whatnot…so we’ll focus on those routes the most.”
For those who do have to get out in it, it’s a good idea to check MoDOT’s Traveler Information website.
