A routine traffic stop for what was described as following another vehicle too close comes to an end with a Moberly man facing felony charges in Miller County.
The probable cause statement filed in Tuscumbia indicates that the traffic stop happened shortly before 8:00 Monday night and that consent was given for the vehicle to be searched.
During the search, an undisclosed quantity of cocaine along with a loaded, and chambered, handgun were discovered in a backpack in the back seat belonging to the passenger identified as Douglas Barnes.
Barnes was taken into custody and transported to the Miller County Jail.
He is formally charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Bond was set at $50,000.
