Mizzou Basketball Has First Winless Conference Season Since Missouri Valley Era – Shawn East Named SEC Scholar Athlete

Well we have discussed over the last few months the difficult season Mizzou basketball has gone through their first winless conference season 0 and 18 since they played in the Missouri Valley.

The all -conference teams have come and gone Mizzou does not have a player land on the first or second team.

However a tremendous honor for senior guard Shawn East who was named the SEC’s scholar athlete of the year.

In fact the second straight year Mizzou has had their top player earn this award it was Kobe Brown a season ago and heck if you go back to football Brady Cook was the scholar athlete of the year in the SEC.

A tremendous year for East who has seen his scoring average go up by 10 points he is scoring almost 18 points per game and is in the middle of a seven game streak of scoring 20 points or more that’s been the case since he came back from a knee injury on February 7th and 10th.

Mizzou plays in the SEC tournament Wednesday when they play the Georgia Bulldogs.
