Missouri Man Drowns In Pomme De Terre Lake After Jumping Out Of Boat

An outing on the water turns to tragedy Wednesday afternoon in Hickory County.

The water patrol division of the highway patrol says it happened on Pomme De Terre Lake when 59-year-old Steven Kessler, of Houston-Missouri, jumped from a boat which had been adrift before yelling for help saying that he couldn’t breath.

Nearby witnesses and those who were still on the boat threw Kessler a lifejacket and tried to get him to land but were unable to keep him above water.

C-P-R was conducted until medical personnel arrived.

Kessler was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
