An Eldon-area man facing several felony charges including first-degree murder and two counts of kidnapping by inflicting injury and terrorizing is scheduled to be back in a courtroom next week.
Terry Eugene Ewens, now 60, is accused of holding three relatives hostage and killing one of them…a 71-year-old female…in what was initially being called a “possible domestic situation” at a residence on Emery Road in Rocky Mount.
Several agencies responded to the call on September 5, 2020, including the highway patrol’s SWAT team which made entry when it was believed an 82-year-old man inside was being assaulted by Ewens. The third victim, a 51-year-old woman, was also injured.
Ewens, who threatened to shoot law enforcement on the scene, is also charged with burglary and domestic assault in connection to the incident.
A pre-trial hearing is set for next Monday with a jury trial currently on the docket for late July in Laclede County on a change of venue from Miller County. Ewens is being held without bond.
