Meeting On Raising Water & Sewer Rates In Osage Beach Set For Thursday At City Hall

Call it a sign of the times but water and sewer rates are likely to be going up at a good clip by the end of this week in Osage Beach.

The city is seeking to raise water and sewer rates by about half, according to Mayor Michael Harmison, to put the system into a position where it can pay for itself with the user fees collected.

“The last several years….for many years…they’ve not charged enough to run the system itself. So, they’ve had to dig into revenue, that is basically a transfer of funds to offset…to charge people less than cost. And so far, it’s the opinion of the board at this point, that it needs to pay for itself.”

The water and sewer rate increases in Osage Beach will be the main topics of discussion during a public hearing to be held during the beginning of this week’s board of aldermen meeting.

The meeting, on Thursday in city hall, will begin at 5:30.
