Kansas Man Faces Numerous Felony Charges Following Arrest In Benton County

An Independence man is being held on several felony charges including two counts of first-degree drug trafficking after being pulled over on a motorcycle which did not have a license plate.

That’s according to the probable cause statement filed in Benton County which also alleges that 39-year-old Derik Cantrell was also in possession of more than 260 grams of methamphetamine along with almost six grams of meth and fentanyl, over 70 grams of marijuana and loaded and chambered firearm with an extended magazine…the gun coming back as stolen according to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Cantrell is also charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and driving-related offices.

Bond was set at $250,000.
