The concept and the training may not be new but the lake area fire district industry now, officially, has an operational First Responder Stress Support Team.
The “FRSST” program focuses on stress management and the mental health of first responders in connection to emergency incidents which, in retrospect, could have an effect mentally and even physically in the way of performance on the job.
KRMS News first broke the story just over a year ago about the training being available in the lake area.
That training has now evolved into a stress support team which has been formed in conjunction to a number of other member fire districts.
Members of this group were guests during the Tuesday edition of the Ozarks Today with Mike Anthony.
