Osage Beach firefighters make quick work out of what was first reported over the weekend as a structure fire along Dempsey Drive.
Deputy Chief Steve Lucas says the call was received around 6:00 Saturday morning when a shed caught on fire.
“They were burning leaves the day before and thought they had it all out and the wind kicked up overnight and blew an ember into the siding, caught the exterior siding on fire and extended into the shed just a little bit.”
The shed and contents were not a total loss and there were no injuries reported.
Lucas also says, for future reference when burning leaves, take a few extra moments when you are done to thoroughly water down the area just to make sure there are no unwelcomed surprises…“After you think you’re done burning, go ahead and wet down the aisle where you were finished burning so that kind of thing doesn’t happen.”
