Now that the school year is over, the Eldon R1 District will be moving forward with some much needed improvements.
Superintendent Matt Davis says recent voter approval of a $5-million bond issue will mean the district can start spending some of those funds.
“We’re going to add on 14 classrooms. We’re going to add on those classrooms to the elementary buildings, 6 at one and 8 at the other.”
The district approved a bid amount of $4-million-77-thousand submitted by Verslues Construction for the project which, according to Davis, should leave a little extra for other projects.
“Within those three years, I’m sure we’ll have some parking lot repairs or maybe some roof issues that we’ll take care of.”
It’s projected that ground will be broken for the new classrooms sometime in July.
