The Camden County Commission gets its first glimpse into the future request for funding the sheriff’s office.
Outgoing Sheriff Tony Helms and other representatives from the office were on hand, Tuesday, to present the commission with its expected request prompting several questions including how much projected revenue will cover the proposed expenses.
“Well, when it comes to future revenue, a lot of it depends on who gets in the White House. I mean, we can all imagine what might be, but we might find ourselves burdened by what has been or what may become.”
Preliminary numbers indicate the $13-million budget includes a request for some $470,000 to be taken from county general revenue to cover expected increases in the sheriff’s office operating budget.
The commission will take action on the request, most likely, in November.
