The tolls are gone and business is booming.
Keeping a close eye on the amount of traffic going back and forth across the former toll bridge is Lake West Chamber Director Mike Koenigsman who says the increased traffic is equaling more business on the west side.
“I’ve talked to people who say….you know, I didn’t use to ever go across that toll bridge and now I’m going to cross it. So it’s definitely making a difference on getting people to come to the west side of the Lake, and we appreciate that.”
After 20-some years of charging to cross the bridge, the toll booths were shut down and the tolls were discontinued on April 30th.
