Updating a story we’ve been following on KRMS News – a 27 year old Camden County manslaughter suspect’s trial which was expected to begin on Monday has been delayed again – this time against his wishes.
27 year old Dereck Beck of Osage Beach is accused of causing the drug-overdose death of his mother in January 2021.
Beck is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter for his mother’s death accused of giving his mother a drug-cocktail that investigators say he made with illicit ingredients leading to her death.
Beck had originally been scheduled for trial last September, but the prosecution requested and was granted a continuance.
Monday the prosecution again asked for a continuance and Judge Matthew Hamner granted it despite the objections of Beck and his attorneys.
He’s now now scheduled for a trial to begin on February 9th.
Beck’s girlfriend, Morgan Walters, was also charged.
But her case has been closed to the public.
