With the official arrival of spring under a week away and daylight hours increasing, Ameren-Missouri is reminding you about some electrical safety tips when it comes to doing outdoor projects.
Tim Frankenberg, a fire safety engineer for Ameren, says “a little prevention goes a long way in keeping your family safe.”
Among the tips offered by Ameren:
1) Keep electrical equipment at least 10-feet away from wet conditions;
2) Call 8-1-1 at least three days in advance of any digging to mark underground utilities.
3) Stay clear of power lines and wires while trimming, raising ladders and doing other outdoor home maintenance;
4) And make sure any outdoor electronics and power cords are properly rated.
More information and safety tips are also available on Ameren’s website.
