Joint preliminary damage assessments for individual assistance will start on Thursday of this week in 23 counties following the storms and tornadoes that ripped across portions of Missouri last Friday and Saturday.
Governor Mike Kehoe is asking that the Federal Emergency Management Agency participate in the assessments in preparation for a major federal disaster declaration request.
Included in the 23 affected counties are Camden, Laclede and Pulaski.
The National Weather Service also continues to survey damage and debris patterns to determine a final count on the number of tornados that struck across Missouri.
As of this past Sunday, that confirmed number stood at 12.
Initial damage assessments estimate that 368 homes were destroyed, 356 with major damage, and 1,058 others with minor damages.
Reported power outages also continue to decrease across the affected areas.
