It’s a record the Osage Beach Fire District would be more than happy not to have set…the total number of calls for the year and with still another five weeks to go before resetting the counter to zero.
Just before 3:30 Friday afternoon, Osage Beach personnel responded to the 2,245th incident eclipsing the previous record which had been set in 2018.
Overall, while the actual number of fires are down, about 70% of the call load involves medical emergencies.
The numbers of people re-locating to the lake, especially during the post-COVID crisis years, has played a major role in fire districts reporting higher call loads.
