Immediate demolition of what had been the historic Allen Building in downtown Lebanon has been ordered after further review of the damage on Monday revealed extensive damage and structural instability of the 100-year-old building.

Firefighters from Lebanon and around the region including Mid-County, Osage Beach and Sleeper-Stoutland responded to the blaze around 9:30 Sunday night with some personnel remaining on the scene all night.

Crews with cadaver dogs were working the scene on Monday with the Missouri Division of Fire Safety and Lebanon police leading the investigation into a cause.

Traffic in the immediate area of the building, near Adams and Commercial Streets, is expected to remain impacted until further notice.
