It’s in with the new and out with the old for MoDOT.
Central District Area Engineer Danny Roeger says what had been the Adopt-A-Highway program, which first began in 1987, will be phased out in 2026 and cease to exist…at least under the same name.
“Is essentially canceled. We’ve replaced that with a new program called keeping Missouri, beautiful. It’s essentially the same process, the same expectations with a few changes.”
The Adopt-A-Highway program had been lacking on a number of groups failing to carry out their duties and costing MoDOT some $1.2 million to run the program which only saved the state about $550-thousand in costs.
More information about the new “Keeping Missouri Beautiful” program is available by contacting MoDOT.
