With daily headlines reporting mass shootings, terrorist attacks, hate crimes and natural disasters…not to mention financial issues such as continued inflation…how safe is the State of Missouri…?
According to the personal finance website WalletHub.com, not very.
The report which takes 52 key metrics into consideration, including workplace safety and emergency preparedness, Missouri is ranked 39th just behind Montana and ahead of Tennessee.
The states of Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana respectively ranked 48th, 49th and 50th as the least safe states while Maine came in ranked #3 behind New Hampshire at #2 and Vermont topping the list as the safest states in the country.

With nearly 14,000 Americans having died from gun violence this year and the country having experienced 20 billion-dollar climate disasters, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Safest States in America, as well as expert commentary.
In order to determine the most secure states, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 52 key metrics. The data set ranges from assaults per capita to the total loss amount from climate disasters per capita to the unemployment rate.
