Calling it a win-win situation, the Ozarks Amphitheater is now officially a part of Camdenton-proper.

City Administrator Jeff Hooker says the amphitheater will provide the city with a nice chunk of change when it comes to sales tax which is what the city operates on.

“This is its own separate entity, so, you know, the amphitheater can bring anywhere from 8 to $10 million in, which equates to, you know, 180 to $200,000 when the city gets there, 2%.”

The voluntary annexation was part of a three-way deal between the city, the amphitheater and MoDOT. The water and sewer extensions to the amphitheater and MoDOT shed primarily came out of MoDOT ARPA funds with $20,000 and hook-up fees chipped in from the amphitheater.

Hooker says finalizing the annexation was a long time coming.

Was a year in the making, negotiating this back and forth between MoDOT and the amphitheater and who pays what in the city. And then we got a bid and project. They’re just putting up fencing around the lift station and gates on and it’s a done deal. I mean, the system’s up and running.”

The official first date for the amphitheater to call Camdenton its home is Nov. 1st.
