Osage Beach Police Officer Killed In High Speed Pursuit Through Camden County

An Osage Beach police officer has died following a high-speed pursuit at the Lake of the Ozarks.

According to Osage Beach Police Chief Todd Davis, officer Phylicia Carson, had attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Highway 54.

The vehicle failed to stop and accelerated, at which time the officer continued pursuing the vehicle. Vehicle pursuit continued West on Hwy. 54 exiting onto Route Y, then onto Midway Rd. and then onto A Rd.”

Once they entered A road, Camden County Deputies joined in the pursuit that ended in a crash.

At approximately 1:36AM, Osage Beach Communications was advised by the Camden County Sheriff’s Department Communication Center that their responding Deputies located a vehicle off the roadway and it was on fire. This vehicle was an Osage Beach patrol car.”

One person has been taken into custody in connection to the pursuit.

Camden County Prosecutor Rochelle Grosvenor says her office is already taking action.

“Rest assured, your Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is going to review the facts and we are going to charge appropriately and we are going to pursue this with the resources that we have.”

Chief Davis says officer Carson had been with the city for only a short time…hired back in June of 2023

Officer Carson has been employed with the city in the department since June of 2023. Please keep the Carson family, our department, in our community in your thoughts and prayers as we work through this tragic event.”

She leaves behind her husband and six children.

An Osage Beach police officer is dead following a traffic accident which happened during a pursuit late Friday night or Saturday morning.

According to Osage Beach Police, officer Phylicia Carson, along with other Osage Beach officers and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, were involved in the pursuit which reportedly ended with the accident on A-Road.

Officer Carson had been with the city for only a short time…hired back in June of 2023. She leaves behind her husband and six children.

One person has been taken into custody believed to be connected to the pursuit.

Details of why the person was leading authorities on the pursuit are also not known at this time, but it is known the the vehicle in question was seen traveling at a high rate of speed down Highway 54…traveling to Y road and eventually to A road where the accident occurred.
