Former Lake Patrolman Promoted To PIO Director With Highway Patrol

A couple familiar faces are on the move within the ranks for the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Lieutenant Scott White, who patrolled in the lake area as a sergeant overseeing public information, has now been promoted from the Professional Standards Division in General HQ to the rank of Captain to serve as the director of Public Information and Education overseeing the whole patrol.

Also promoted was Sergeant Darrin Haslag from the Division of Drug and Crime Control who will now serve as lieutenant and assistant director of the division.

Both will officially assume their new duties on July 1st.

Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotions:

Lieutenant Scott B. White, Professional Standards Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, is being promoted to captain and named director of the Public Information and Education Division effective July 1, 2024.

White was appointed to the Patrol on January 8, 2007, as a member of the 86th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 11, Camden and Miller counties. He was promoted to corporal in February 2012 and assigned to marine operations as assistant zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone 16, Lake of the Ozarks. In January 2014, White transferred to Zone 18, Miller County, where he was designated assistant zone supervisor. He transferred to Troop F Headquarters in April 2015 to serve as the public information and education officer. White was promoted to sergeant in October 2015 and remained in that position. On October 1, 2020, White was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the Professional Standards Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO.

Captain White grew up in a military family and lived in Iowa, North Carolina, and New Jersey. He graduated from Pemberton Township High School in Pemberton, NJ, in 1991. In 1997, he graduated from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO, having earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice administration. He graduated from Police Leadership: The West Point Model in November 2023. Prior to joining the Patrol, White served as a police officer with the Carthage (MO) Police Department. Captain White and his wife, Angela (Wilson), have a daughter, Chloe.

Sergeant Darrin R. Haslag, Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, will be promoted to lieutenant and designated assistant director of that division effective July 1, 2024.
Haslag was appointed to the Patrol on May 16, 2002, as a commercial vehicle officer. Upon completing commercial vehicle officer training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop F. In July 2005, Haslag was promoted to commercial vehicle officer supervisor, and remained assigned to Troop F. On July 1, 2008, Haslag was appointed as a member of the 88th Recruit Class and began training to become a trooper. After completing recruit training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, Haslag was assigned to Troop F, Zone 2, Cole and Callaway counties. On September 1, 2013, Haslag transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, and was assigned as a criminal investigator with the Troop F Criminal Unit. In that capacity, he was also part of the Rural Crimes Investigative Unit. On February 1, 2019, Haslag was promoted to sergeant and remained a criminal investigator assigned to the Troop F Criminal Unit.

Lieutenant Haslag grew up in Taos, MO, and graduated from Blair Oaks High School in 1992. He earned an Associate of Arts in criminal justice, from Mineral Area Community College, in Park Hills, MO, in 2008. He graduated from Leadership in Police Organization training in April 2018. Lieutenant Haslag is married to Angie (Boessen), and they have two children.
