Glitch Causing GM Pickup Tailgates To Open Unexpectedly – Leading To Recall

A possible glitch that could cause a pickup truck tailgate to open unexpectedly leads General Motors to issue a recall.

General motors is recalling more than 570,000 pickup trucks in the US

The electronic latch mechanism used to open the gate to certain 2020 to 2024 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra truck beds, could short circuit if water enters the tailgate….leading to the gate opening and allowing objects in the bed to fall out.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says GM has receive 136 complains of tailgates opening while being driven.

Owners are advise to manually close their tailgate when driving, until the recall is finished.

GM will start notifying owners…if their car is subject to recall…on March 18th.
