Officials from lake area fire districts are cautioning when you check into your accommodations for the holiday weekend and throughout the summer, you need to do a little research first to find out safety information you might need…such as escape plans…in the unlikely case of the unthinkable happening.
“In a Hotel? A lot of times things are on the back of the door. You go right there. But if you’re staying in some house off of maybe bittersweet or something, you may not have all that info readily available, even though maybe it’s supposed to be. It just maybe doesn’t happen.”
Lake Ozark Deputy Fire Chief David Woodward goes on to say have fun but also take the time to check out two main things which can mean the difference between life and death.
“Know your address and make sure the smoke detectors work at the place you’re staying.”
Other reminders…seat belts when on the roadways, life jackets when on the waterways and sober drivers and operators are always also strongly encouraged.
