Higbee Man Killed After Slamming Into Oncoming Train

A man from Higbee, Missouri, is dead after the semi-truck he was driving slammed into a train in Monroe County.

The highway patrol says it happened Sunday afternoon along highway-24 east of Madison when 65-year-old Russell Minnis failed to stop at the crossing which did have a gate, a bell and warning lights.

It’s unclear if Minnis had been wearing a seat belt at the time.

He was pronounced dead at the scene

There were no other injuries reported.
