It’s that time of year again when the lake area is hit with a one-two punch when it comes to traffic.
It’s the end of school for several lake area districts.
Couple that with the Memorial Day weekend and summer season converging on us and it means that extra caution needs to be taken on the roadways.
“We do live in a resort area with drivers that aren’t familiar with our roads. So you need to be paying attention at all times for pretty much all the drivers. But obviously we are concerned because there can be a lot of young drivers hitting the roads and trying to get some experience. So just be cautious and careful and courteous” says Mid-County Fire Chief Scott Frandsen.
Of 11 lake area school districts, according to online calendars, only four remain in session. Camdenton will dismiss for the summer next Wednesday, the 24th, while Osage, Versailles and Warsaw all dismiss next Friday, the 26th.
