Osage Beach Police have announced that a person of interest has been identified in connection to the targeted social media threat earlier this week against School of the Osage. Lieutenant Michael O’Day says information about the threat was initially reported by the public.
“We were alerted from the public or an individual in the public of the threat……And then from there, we started looking at Snapchats and other social media platforms and determined that this person was a person of interest.”
SOTO Superintendent Doctor Laura Nelson says she couldn’t be more pleased with how quick the investigation has reached this point.
“It’s incredible. There are agencies all over the country that don’t get things solved ever, let alone get a community to a point where we feel confident moving forward. It’s been an outstanding collaborative effort.”
The lake area multi-agency investigation, which included the FBI, has concluded there is no ongoing threat to students or staff and in-person classes and activities will resume as normal on Tuesday.
Although it’s not being confirmed, it’s believed that the person of interest is a high school student who will likely be referred to the Miller County Juvenile Office.
