Rolla Area Student Awarded Prize For Earth Day Slogan At State Capitol Contest

Missouri is celebrating Earth Day with numerous events being held across the state, including one that happened early on Friday at the State Capitol in Jefferson City.

The celebration hosted by the Department of Natural Resources brough numerous agencies and organizations together to offer hands-on education activities for several students that stopped by.

That includes student Harlee Tanner of Rolla, who won the $50 prize with her slogan, “Join the race to make the world a better place,” as part of the annual Earth Day Slogan Contest.

Harlee was among 260 Missouri 5th graders from 21 schools that competed in the event.
