Camdenton Memorial Lake Regional Airport continues to see more air traffic including jets since the completion of a runway-lengthening project last year.
The runway was extended from 4,000 feet to 5,000 feet.
Mayor John McNab says small jets used to comprise about 10-percent of that traffic but it seems to have tripled since the extension….“It benefits the whole lake area. We’ve got people coming in from all over. I know one of the great things here right on our doorstep, the amphitheaters out there. And we’ve got a lot of those acts that are flying into our airport now that couldn’t do that before. And so that’s another thing that allows them to bring people in that maybe they couldn’t get before.”
Another plus is that the sale of fuel at the airport has been soaring since the runway project’s completion.
